A Bright and Beautiful New Year to You

A Bright and Beautiful New Year to You

As we turn the page to 2025, it’s easy to feel the pull of New Year’s resolutions. That annual promise to “fix” ourselves or finally tackle a lingering goal. But let’s be honest—how often do those resolutions truly stick?

Here’s why: resolutions often focus on what we do without addressing who we are. They’re rooted in behavior, not identity. It’s like trying to build a house without a solid foundation—it might look good for a moment, but it can’t hold up over time.

Real, lasting change doesn’t come from a to-do list. It starts with aligning your actions to who you are becoming. When you’re clear on who that is, your choices naturally shift to support the life you’re creating.

This is why I prefer intentions. Intentions aren’t about perfection or pressure. They’re about imagining a future that feels exciting and meaningful and deciding to show up as the person who can create it. When you live with intention, change becomes organic—a reflection of your growth, not a box to check off.

So, as you think about this new year, I invite you to set aside the pressure of resolutions and instead ask yourself: Who am I ready to become? When you lead with that question, you’ll be amazed at how life begins to open up in ways you never expected.

If you’re ready to explore what’s possible for you in 2025, I’d love to support you. Let’s connect, dream big, and set the kind of intentions that make this year your best one yet.

Love and Light,
Michèle Heffron

EP 40: Every Other Weekend: Anthony Mohr’s Journey Through Divorce and Two Worlds

In this episode of Getting to the Heart – Life, Relationships, and Divorce, Michele Heffron sits down with Anthony (Tony) Mohr, retired Superior Court judge, Harvard Advanced Leadership Initiative fellow, and author of Every Other Weekend. Together, they explore Tony’s deeply personal journey growing up with two vastly different fathers—a Hollywood actor and a conservative businessman—while navigating the emotional complexities of a post-divorce childhood.

The conversation touches on everything from Tony’s Beverly Hills upbringing during the Golden Age of Hollywood to the lessons he learned living between two households with contrasting cultures and values. Tony reflects on how his experiences shaped his path from aspiring actor to lawyer and judge, as well as the wisdom he now shares with parents navigating divorce.

Michele and Tony discuss the importance of supporting children’s emotional well-being during divorce, including the value of therapy, listening to children, and fostering safe, supportive environments. Tony shares heartfelt stories about his family dynamics, his mother’s behind-the-scenes heroics, and the lessons parents can take away from his book, Every Other Weekend, which is equal parts memoir and a window into a unique era of American life.

This inspiring and insightful episode offers guidance, hope, and meaningful takeaways for anyone navigating co-parenting, family transitions, or personal growth.

Navigating Divorce: Real Emotions, Real Growth Divorce isn’t something most of us see coming when we say, “I do.” And when it does happen, it’s not tidy or easy—it’s raw, messy, and often fueled by anger, resentment, or grief. I know this because I’ve been there, and I didn’t handle it well. My second divorce was a wake-up call, but not in the way you might think. At the time, I let my emotions take the wheel. I lashed out, made impulsive decisions, and let my pain dictate my actions. Looking...

A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words Have you ever considered that you are a maker of miracles? Yes, you. Most of us go through life as though we’re reading a novel, flipping page after page, just waiting to see how it all turns out. We forget the most incredible truth: we are not passive readers—we’re the authors. Every moment, we’re generating our lives as though they were great works of art. But here’s the thing: it’s easy to lose sight of the big picture when you’re caught up in the...

Celebrating Small Wins During Divorce: Why They Matter When I think about celebrating small wins, it reminds me of a story from a client who we’ll call Mary. Mary was navigating her divorce with the weight of the world on her shoulders, feeling overwhelmed by the unknown. She wasn’t sure where to start, and every day felt like one more step on a never-ending uphill climb. Like many, she was stuck in the idea that her life wouldn’t be okay until all the pieces fell perfectly into place. But...
